"O my beautiful land, with your wide horizons; land of hills and valleys,
where you can visit ten, twelve villages on foot in a single day, going from one to the next,
along little field paths that climb and fall, in summer between corn in the ear and meadows in bloom, and woodland that is fresh, green and fragrant;
where from a hilltop you see twenty villages lying before you, with their church towers and houses and farmsteads and orchards;
where on every side, on the distant horizon, you see the blue line of the language border of East Flanders..."
(Omer Wattez, 1857-1935, free translation)

"B&B De Notelaar" lies in the middle of a region dotted with beautiful walking paths.
We are happy to explain everything on the spot. Below you will find a selection of the many trails, but feel free to ask us for the brochures — we have them ready for you.
Besides the existing routes, we have discovered the most beautiful spots nearby ourselves and mapped them for you. So we can help you plan a walk tailored to your needs, taking into account distance, gradients, surfaces, duration, views, sights, nature, your privacy, resting places, café terraces and the like.
We are actively involved in restoring the quiet country lanes in the area. Together with other organisations, we work to restore the paths that make the most beautiful spots in our region accessible again to you, the gentle tourist. In this way we want to offer walkers, and interested locals too, pieces of valuable green landscape. Here you can already find some of those achievements (in progress).
Long-distance (GR) hikers are more than welcome here, as are keen walkers from the Natuurvrienden associations. But above all we love surprising recreational walkers with the incredibly beautiful little paths in our area.
You will find both flat and rolling walking routes here. Use the links below to help plan your walking holiday. Do you prefer laid-out paths, or the more adventurous trails our region is rich in? Don't worry about muddy footwear — you can wash and dry it in our barn. We are happy to introduce you to the paved and unpaved paths our beautiful region has to offer.
