What is a Granny?

A granny is a lady who has no children of her own. That is why she loves other people's children. Grannies have nothing to do. They just have to be there.

When they take you for a walk, they go slowly, without stepping on the pretty leaves, or the caterpillars. They never say “hurry up a bit!”. Generally they are fat, but not too fat to put our shoes on for us.

They know we always want a second piece of cake, or the biggest one. A real granny never smacks a child. She gets cross while laughing.

Grannies wear glasses and sometimes they can take their teeth out.

When they read us stories, they never skip a bit, and they don't mind if we ask for the same story again and again.

Grannies are the only grown-ups who always have time. They are not as fragile as they say, even if they die more than we do.

Everybody should try to have a granny, especially those who don't have a television.
